Unit 1B Let’s talk第五课时
Teaching aims:
1.To learn to use the sentences:Who’s that young lady? She’s our principal. Is she strict? Yes she is./No she isn’t.
2.To learn to use the sentences in propei scene.
3.To finish “Let’s try.”
Main and difficult points:
1.To learn to use some sentences.
2.Toread the words “principal quiet” correctly.
Teaching steps:
Step 1. Preparation:
1.Sing the song “My new teacher.”
2.Ss chant together:
Who is your teacher?
Mrs Heart.
Is she kind?
Yes,and she is smart.
3.Free talk.
Eg:T:Who’s your P.E. teacher.S1:Mr Yang.
T:What’s he like?S1:He’s tall and strong.
T---S1/S2/S3  Then check several pairs of Ss. (建议两到三组对话)
Step 2. Presentation
1.Show a photo of a young lady on the screen.
T:Look.That is a young lady.
Teach Ss to read: young lady.
T: Read ---Ss follow the teacher partA/B---Individual.
T:Who’s  the young lady?
She’s the principal.
Let Ss look carefully.Try to describe the young lady:
Eg: S1:She’s young.
S2:She’s tall and thin.
S3:She’s kind.
T:Is she strict?
Lead Ss to answer: Yes,she is.
Teach Ss to read: Yes,she is.
T:Is she active? No,she isn’t.She’s quiet.
Teach Ss to read: No,she isn’t.
2.Show several pictures on page 7 on the screen.
Let Ss look and answer:
Is she kind? Yes,she is.
Is he active? Yes,he is.
Ss talk about the pictures in pairs.
Then check...
Step 3 Practice.
1. T: What’s the young lady like?
Play the tape twice.
Ss listen and answer.
Listen and repeat.
Read in pairs.
Check several pairs.
2.Let Ss look at the other two pictures. Ss make up similar dialogues.
Check.
3.Play a game.
A student say:She’s our teacher.She’s young.She’s tall and thin.
Other Ss ask:Is she quiet/strict/kind/……?
The student answer:Yes,she is./No,she isn’t.
Other Ss guess who is the teacher according to the description.
4.Let’s try:
Play the tape twice.Ss listen to the tape,and circle the right picture.
Step 4 Production.
Ss take out their pencils,draw their favourite teachers. Then describe him or her.
Ask a few Ss to describe their favourite teachers.
Step 5 Progress.
1.Sum—up
2.Do exercises.
3.Homework.
Read the dialogue freely and describe our principal.
